IMPORTANT! Competition updates!

The It List trophy-hunters, you have two weeks left to enter – but panic not, we’ve updated our rules and processes to ease the pressure…

Creative HEAD’s competition for hairdressing’s most exciting young talents remains open for entry until 5pm on 10 June, but in light of the government announcement on Monday 11 May, regarding Covid-19 – and the ongoing lockdown restrictions, we’ve made some important changes that we hope will help you cross the finish line in time.

The clock is ticking – so cast your eye over these key updates, reminders and reassurances:

  1. UPDATE! NOW ACCEPTING DIGITAL ENTRIES
Due to the continuing limitations of lockdown, we’ve taken the decision to relax the Most Wanted rules and allow digital entries in all categories. Click HERE for full details of how to prepare and send your digital entries. NB: hardcopy entries are still absolutely, 100 per cent A-OK. Choice is yours!
  2. UPDATE! DATES FOR COURIER DROP-OFFS AND HAND-DELIVERIES
If you are hoping to use a courier to drop off or to hand-deliver your hardcopy entries, you can still do so but ONLY on the following dates [when staff will be present to receive]: Monday 8, Tuesday 9 and Wednesday 10 June (9am-5pm). Give the courier company this number, in case of any issues: +44 (0)20 7324 7542 – and save it to your phone, too, if you’re dropping off in person. Note: social distancing measures will be adhered to.
  3. UPDATE! THE IT LIST AGE LIMIT
Due to Covid-19 taking grip, we pushed back the MWIT20 closing date (from 13 May to 10 June). We appreciate this change may have impacted eligibility, ruling out people who should have been able to enter this year. Therefore, if you are aged 30 or under OR if you turned 31 between 13 May and 10 June, you may still enter The It List 2020. Don’t forget you must submit the photo page of your passport to verify your age.

  4. POSTAL ENTRIES
Be mindful that the postal service may still be experiencing some disruption – especially with larger packages. Deliveries may take longer, so don’t hang about. Our post’s on divert, so rest assured, we’ll have somebody at the receiving end. We’ll be issuing notifications via email, too, within one week of receipt.
  5. ARCHIVED WORK IS OK!
No matter which trophy you’re after – and whether you are preparing a portfolio entry or entering an image-led category (like The Visionary) – you DO NOT need to shoot imagery exclusively for The It List (never have, never will).
  6. PREVIOUSLY PUBLISHED WORK IS OK, TOO!
… The only thing to watch out for is a time period stipulation (e.g. your work must have been created in the last 12 months, which means anything after February 2019) – check category criteria to be sure.
  7. IT’S ABOUT THE LOWDOWN PRE-LOCKDOWN
We appreciate salon business has been on pause for weeks now. Rest assured, you are not expected to include any content relating to the period impacted by Covid-19 in any statistics/outcomes requested when preparing your entries. This unprecedented period shouldn’t take away all the incredible things you were doing BEFORE – so draw on successes and statistics prior to lockdown (even for categories where there is a 12-month timeframe in place, this means anything after Feb 2019). You’re awesome and we know it, tell our judges why too…
  8. CREATIVITY COUNTS
Don’t have access to a computer or design/graphics software? Can’t book your regular printer – or get hold of the perfect paper stock? Please don’t panic or be put off – you’ve got to be in it to win it, right? Granted, The It List standards are high, and our judges appreciate care and effort, but they also admire ingenuity, too. And after all, it’s the content that really matters. Substance over style, right?
  9. P.S. THE USB BIT
In all categories, we ask for additional material (usually images that feature in/make up your entry or a supplementary video, for example) to be sent in on a USB device, accompanying your entry and completed and signed entry form. If you’re struggling to get hold of a USB device right now, don’t worry – just email us at events@alfol.co.uk or call +44 (0)1434 610940 and we’ll be able to advise you (we’ll probably suggest you send everything via email or transfer link, but check with us first).
  10. THE JUDGES ARE READY!
Whether you choose to hand-make or print your entries or submit digitally, we’ll make sure everything gets seen by our judges (subject to adherence to the 2020 rules and category criteria being met, of course). Even if lockdown continues to challenge our normal plans and procedures – panic not, we stand by our word: entries WILL be judged. Finalists will be announced on Wednesday 8 July.
  11. FACT! MWIT’S ON SCHEDULE: THE COOLEST NIGHT IN THE HAIRDRESSING CALENDAR… The Most Wanted and The It List 2020 Grand Final will take place at Printworks in London on Sunday 6 September. Preparations for the event are in full swing, and we look forward to welcoming a new roster of MWIT stars. Of course, government-imposed restrictions may result in enforced changes to our plans – but whatever the circumstances faced; our winners WILL be named.

We do hope that helps? Now, let’s do it!

Any questions, please get in touch – email events@alfol.co.uk or call +44 (0)1434 610940
