Has there ever been a more eagerly anticipated MWIT Grand Final? After coronavirus threw a spanner in the works, last night we finally got to crown our supremely talented Most Wanted 2020 champions… and for the first time, we shared the entire epic night with you lovely lot at home!
Streamed live online from the iconic Printworks in London, the socially-distant ceremony was packed full of laughs, camaraderie, and a few cheeky surprises. The hilarious Russell Kane returned after a half-decade break to host, and had all the finalists in attendance cackling with his wry observations. And despite stringent protocols that saw restricted numbers, on-site testing, two-metre-distanced seating, and strict adherence to a certified covid-safe broadcast set-up, the industrial-chic surroundings were buzzing with warmth and appreciation for UK and Irish hairdressing in all its forms.
ghd artists Adam Reed, Charlotte Mensah and Zoë Irwin also dazzled with a gloriously glam presentation, while Anthony Turner shook up proceedings with a monster of a creative slot.
Of course, the key reason we rolled out the red carpet was to give recognition to fourteen hairdressing stars from the UK and Ireland who shone especially bright over the tumultuous last 12-and-a-bit (!) months. Their terrific teamwork, inspirational innovations, enviable career moves, mesmerising creativity, business brilliance and superb levels of service set them apart.
