On Sunday, October 15, SLATE Hair Education brought Sassoon legend Christopher Brooker to London for a special charity event. Held in aid of Arthritis Care UK (and sponsored by Creative HEAD Magazine), the sell-out show also featured artists and educators from around the world, many of whom had flown in specially for the evening.
The man behind some of the most iconic haircuts of the ’60s – including the Firefly, Brush and Thatch – talked about his incredible career at the studio, before overseeing cutting and styling demos from Croatian team Zgat, fellow Sassoon alumni and Hong Kong academy owner Frank Taylor, Britain’s Senzi and Menspire (featuring Josh Lamonaca), the USA’s The Kingly Hair Group and Gannis Erodotou from Cyprus salon Mohawk Hair Studio.
”At SLATE Hair Education we made a decision to create ACT – a simple concept to connect hair artists from around the world, all in the name of charity, ” explained Michael Pitsillides, head of education at the brand.
“Christopher Brooker opened the show and led the way for the younger generation of up and coming teams in hair education, with each showcasing their distinctive style. The night was a resounding success; we sold out before the doors opened! The mood was electrifying and together we became a larger community for change. We can’t wait for the next ACT event.”
