Leeds, get set! Creative HEAD’s final Coterie event of the year is coming, with a double dose of hairdressing inspiration and insight in store.
Fancy spending the evening with two of hairdressing’s high-flyers? Sipping wine, tucking into canapés, and hearing two seriously fascinating stories about making it big? On Monday 13 November, The Coterie returns to Leeds with none other than Samantha Hillerby (session hairdresser, salon owner, educator and creative genius) and Ky Wilson (hairdressing maverick, entrepreneur and The It List It Guy 2017) in tow. Bag yourself a ticket, and you’ll get to learn all about how they got to where they are today, while soaking up tonnes of creative and career advice along the way.
If you’ve ever wondered just what it takes to be Guido Palau’s first assistant for five years – yes you read that right: FIVE YEARS – then Samantha’s your girl! Following a five-year stint at Nicky Clarke, she worked as Guido’s right-hand girl before going on to carve out an enviable career in session hairdressing, headling her own shows and shooting editorial and advertising campaigns with some of the hottest models, magazines and brands on the planet. She’s worked with some of the world’s most heavyweight photographers – think Juergen Teller, Mario Testino, Mert and Marcus and Tim Walker – while Cara Delevingne, Victoria Beckham and Emma Watson all feature on her client list. She’s also a mother, and she owns a hair studio in North Ferriby (near Hull), which was listed by Vogue earlier this year as one of the top 10 beauty destinations outside London. Back in May, Samantha co-headlined The Coterie: In Session – where she captivated the audience by creating three stunning looks live on set.
As for Ky… well, where do we start? He cut his teeth working for some of the top names in the industry (Electric Hairdressing’s Mark Woolley, Percy & Reed’s Adam Reed), before creating his own lifestyle brand The Social, which has premises in both the north and south of England. Said brand earned him the It List Entrepreneur 2016 title, while his session skills have landed him work not only backstage at the shows but for music labels and artists, too. Earlier this year he won the L’Oréal Colour Trophy Men’s Image Award, and of course, most recently, he took home the It List It Guy 2017 Award. Ky’s mantra is to ‘do more of what you love’ and his vision is to ‘show others how to build a community that isn’t ruled by the followers you have online, but by the people who surround you’. #Respect. How does do it all? Rest assured, it’s our mission to find out!
Intrigued? Join us on Monday 13 November at Lambert’s Yard in Leeds, 7-10pm.
