Updo masterclasses, braid bars, blow-dries, colour consultations, charity giveaways, cake, raffles, selfies, bubbles, and much, much more! On September 28th 2016, the bigger, bolder and more buzz-filled Big Hair Do event made its return to hairdressing businesses across the nation.
100 salons across the UK – from Dundee to Truro – strung up bunting and balloons, and threw open their doors for a unique “experience” evening presented by Layered (in association with Creative HEAD). Designed to help show the public just how amazing British salons and the talented staff who make them tick are, the night was filled with education, product testing, hair DIYs, stylist expertise, and even a few colour changes, helping thousands of consumers to solve their hair dilemmas and update their looks for autumn/winter.
Complimentary canapés, cocktails, pimped-up prosecco, pick ‘n’ mix, macrons and mountains of branded cupcakes helped create a party atmosphere, and the wildly popular #BHDselfie competition helped insure that clients took plenty of snaps (complete with hilarious props) to show off their glam looks.
All the Big Hair Do action was captured and publicised via the #bighairdo hashtag on social media, with dozens of pictures and videos being posted every minute. As a result, we trended on Twitter for the second year running!
Every guest left with a Big Hair Do goody bag filled with hair treats and vouchers to use on future salon visits. Generous donations from the night’s sponsors – ghd, Tigi, Bumble and bumble and Aveda – included styling tools, full hair care ranges, new product samples and gift sets, and Big Hair Do fashion partner Very Exclusive also provided a clothing discount for each attendee.
