The hair: Anthony Turner for KMS
The look: Pretty witchy
The inspiration: The work of artist Mark Ryden inspired the S/S18 girl – innocent and simultaneously witchy female characters depicted in his paintings. Girls were given school girl-esque rough side partings and stylists swapped brushes for hands to achieve a natural, unaffected look. The finished result was that of freshly washed hair with low-volume at the roots and a fluffy texture through the mid-lengths and ends.
Step 1: On clean, towel-dried hair, spritz KMS HAIRPLAY Sea Salt Spray over roots only to add hold. With fingers, create a messy side part and blow-dry sections close to the scalp.
Step 2: Throughout mid-lengths and ends, blow-dry using hands to pull hair down. Concentrate on roots so hair doesn’t look too affected and retains natural texture.
Step 3: When hair is completely dry, add KMS HAIRPLAY Makeover Spray through mid-lengths and ends to fluff out the hair and create grungy volume.
Step 4: As a finishing touch, add a bobby pin to hold side parting in place and use KMS HAIRSTAY Working Hairspray to tame flyaways and maintain a smooth finish.
