Last season, Katie Moore became one of the most talked about models in New York thanks to Guido, who transformed her long blonde hair into a fiery, deconstructed bob for the Alexander Wang show. This time it was the turn of Stella Lucia, who was a pop of colour in a sea of natural tones on the Alexander Wang catwalk. Josh Wood, Redken global color creative director, layered up pink tones to create a translucent, rose quartz colour that had more than a hint of ’90s Kate Moss and tied in perfectly with the designer’s highly individual aesthetic.

“There’s an element of haircolour that’s like makeup – Stella can be this color today and another colour tomorrow,” explained Josh. “We are referencing the ‘90s and making it feel right now, today here in New York. I’ve christened it ‘rose quartz’. For me it shows you can have a very personalised tone of pink that suits your complexion, it’s not just one shade of pink.”

Step one: Stella’s hair was already blonde, but if hair is not then prelightening to level 10 is ideal.

Step two: Process the following two formulas on clean, dry hair for 20 minutes – 2 oz of Redken Shades EQ Pastel Pink with 2 oz of Shades Professing Solution; 2 oz Redken City Beats Ballet Pink, 1 oz City Beats in Clear, 1/8 oz City Beats in East Village Violet and 1/8 oz City Beats in Midtown Magenta.

Step three: Rinse, shampoo and condition the hair with the Redken Color Extend Magnetics range.
